Reviews for the Movie Lovers Soul Take One.

Reviews for you today: May 1st, 2011

     * Denotes part of a movie series
    **Denotes a tv series

Salt-  I dub thee, the movie of impossible/improbable stunts, not to mention the ever-changing hair colors of Ms. Jolie. All in all a pretty good movie, with an okay plot. However, like I said, rather chock full of impossible or improbable stunts. Angelina is pretty kick-butt in this movie. Girl power and all that...boo-yah.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas- Lesson number 1 of this movie...don't watch with your seven year old. Not because it's got any sort of negative content you wouldn't want your child to see, but because she'll cry like a baby with you at the end! What a great introduction to a history lesson on Concentration Camps and Germany... This movie was amazing, they really make you feel the emotion and feelings on both sides, and show a very unlikely friendship so well!

*The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo- Okay, first of all, if watching this on dvd there is the option to watch it in Swedish with english subtitles or in English...choose the Swedish! Even if you hate reading subtitles. The english dubbed voices do not match the lips of the actors/actresses and this is even more annoying and absurd...at least, personally! This is an overall AWESOME movie! It starts off a little bit slow, stick through it! It grabs your attention and will not let you go. Completely captivating movie, with high-speed action and a great plot!

*Clerks II- So sad to see this series end! Jay and Silent Bob rock every movie! This movie was completely and totally wicked, in a good way. It competely brought the series full circle. Almost every character from the series made an appearance. It was definitely worth the wait at our local video store for the other patron to bring it back! (Even the video store clerks were monitoring our progression)

Battle of Los Angeles- What a waste of time, money, and my eyesight! If I had three thumbs, they'd all be pointing down on this one! This wouldn't be a waste of time, money, and YOUR eyesight if you: a.)Enjoy movies with incomplete plots, b.) Love dumb aliens c.) Don't mind strange military concepts such as rolling away from live grenades and mis-matching uniforms..or d.)Perhaps you enjoy time travel that is inconsequential to the movies so called "plot." Wow, two thumbs DOWN!

Let Me In- Twilight beware, this vampire 12 year old could take on those Cullens anyday! Great story-line, would've liked a more complete ending. However, perfect set up for a sequel. This little chick has a ton of spunk and ferocious vampire qualities to boot!

Higher Learning- A must see! A very deep, make-you-think type movie, with one of my favorite actors. Who doesn't love Mr. Omar Epps? So full of angst, drama, and just pure intellect. You'll love every minute of it!

Inception- Mind-blowing for real! I'll be paying attention to my dreams from now on, for sure! What an amazing trip through dreams, reality, you're not even sure at times which is which! Must see!!

RepoMen- Oh my, Oh my! Another MUST SEE! If you like action, a little gore, violence, and stay on the edge of your seat type drama--this is the movie for you! They rock your world with the intense ending. I  sat after the movie for hours like "I cannot believe that just happened!" I'd suggest if you haven't seen this movie, you take your hind-parts away from the computer and move to your closest video location.

Rose Red- I have a super affinity for Stephen King, this movie only served to heighten it. Mr. King is amazing, he can make any object scary and omnious. Even something inanimate like an old mansion. This is the scariest house ever, with a history like no other. Stay tuned for a history lesson, and nail biting action! I'm assuming the movie is no where NEAR as amazing as the book. So for those movie lovers, who are also avid readers, like me, I'd suggest hittin up the LIBRARY!

Austrailia- Longest movie ever! However, this is a great story of love, family, fighting racism, and patriotism. Nicole Kidman is rather amazing in this movie, and the scenery well its downright gorgeous! It's more than a movie, it transplants you to a different time and place. Perfection.

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore- YES I had to review this one. One because I have a seven year old, this makes it okay for me to have seen this movie, and...two because it was plain awesome! Katt Williams' pigeon character carries this movie, for sure. If you're looking for light-hearted hilarity, with a childish twist. Pick this movie up!

**Walking Dead- A tv series, but because we have no cable, we had to wait to see this until it came out on dvd. Loved this tv series, who doesn't love some zombies??? Zombie movies are always a favorite over here. Our one complaint about this series is the shortage of episodes, and the plenty of wide open plot lines. However, it still was a great series and we're looking forward to the next one!

*The Girl who Played with Fire- Ah part 2 of the Stieg Larsson series, how I adore thee. Who doesn't love a good pyro movie? The plot thickens in this second addition of the series, as we follow our kick-butt heroine (Lisbet) and heroic reporter. Lisbet is pretty amazing, her life story unfolds and you get a glimpse of why she is the way she is. Again, stick to the Swedish with english subtitles and just stick it out and enjoy the ride!

Woke Up Dead- Funny take on a zombie movie. Will keep you laughing and guessing until the end. When they completely cut you off, and you wonder if the writers were possibly on crack.. Seriously, who does that? Even my seven year old said, "Thats it?"

30 Days of Night-  Yes, another vampire movie. However, this one will keep you on your toes and guessing. Just try guessing who's getting bitten next. I'll bet you can't! Fast paced action, awesome vampires, fun blood baths...if these are your things, this movie is for you!

Boondock Saints II-All Saints Day- Ah, I've been waiting for the sequel since I watched the first! Because, our video store decided to be dumb and rent it out to a ton of other people just before we got there every single time...I just saw this. It was amazing and well worth the wait! Who couldn't love the father-son trio that presents you with fun Irish lilts, plenty of action, and amazing story lines? This Irish girl loves these movies...I'm hoping for a third! It makes one want to pray with them and get a matching gun. :)

Bulletproof Monk- I shouldn't even review this because I lost interest and started doing dishes. That shows just  how uninterested I was in this movie. I really dislike dishes. :-/ All around, pretty awesome stunts and an okay story line. Just not interesting enough to keep my quickly diverted attention.

*Narnia-Voyage of the Dawn Treador- Sweet, amazing addition to the movies created based on C.S. Lewis' book series. Kept all of our attention, and what a great plot! Awesome scenery, perfect actors/actresses, and awaiting more!

Okay, I've added enough reviews for today! Thats all for now! Jolene--signing out!
